How to Grind Weapon Camos in XDefiant w/ Cryptelo
XDefiant, Ubisoft’s Shooter Arena arrives on May 21st, it will be free to play and available on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S as well as PC, XDefiant will have a pre-season of 6 weeks during which you will be able to enjoy the content of previous playtests as well as a brand new “Practice Ranked” mode. Weapon camouflages will also make a comeback. We thought, why not take advantage of the 6 weeks of Pre-Season to get all the camos ready for Season 1?
So we asked our French Grinder “Cryptelo“, who’s used to this kind of grind from Call of Duty, how to best optimize your time to unlock these camos quickly.
First of all, the camo system on XDefiant in the previous BETA only required weapon XP to be unlocked. So you could unlock Bronze camouflage at weapon level 50, Silver camouflage at weapon level 150 and finally, Gold camouflage at weapon level 300. To date, no official information tells us whether or not this system will remain the same but we assume that the system remains unchanged.
The first question we will ask ourselves is: how to earn more weapon XP? And yes, since this XP will allow us to equip our camos, the more you will gain and the faster you will equip these. First, the game mode. During our interview with Cryptelo, he advised us to play “Occupy” only. For him, this is the game mode in which you can get the maximum number of kills and also enjoy the bonus of XP earned during eliminations in the objective. In short, make a maximum of score & kills per minute and try to spend as little as possible in the loading screen.
As for the Faction choice, it is not as important. But Cryptelo has told us that playing with Libertad will make it easier for you to grind kill after kill. Thanks to their ULT, you will have a significant advantage (200HP vs 100HP) when capturing the objective and thus you can achieve more eliminations. In addition, Libertad does not require you to use a “special” weapon like the flamethrower, for example, so that all your kills will be to the weapon you equip only.
And the order of the weapons? Does it matter? Not really. As you probably know, XDefiant is not entertaining the idea of SBMM in casual playtests. It is therefore not necessary to start with the weakest weapons in order to lower your statistics and thus benefit from weaker enemies to equip your strong weapons faster. However, if, like Cryptelo, you plan to keep playing for hours to complete this task as quickly as possible, we advise you to equip the weapons with which you are least comfortable at the beginning of the session and the strongest weapons (easier to play) when fatigue is felt. With regard to secondary weapons (pistols), we can only advise you to perform throughout your journey kills with when you cross an afk player or when you are in the back of an enemy. Thus, they will be simple kills taken and you will have less to do in the end when you only have those weapons left to do.
What if we have a Double XP/Double XP weekend of weapons at launch? It is quite possible. During the launch weeks of a game, most studios usually offer a 2XP weekend to thank the most loyal players. If this is also the case for XDefiant, Cryptelo advises you to draw this reward to your advantage. Enjoy riding all the worst weapons this weekend. Thus, you will have to perform only half the work on the most painful weapons.
Finally, it is possible to get XP boosters of weapons. We do not know yet their usefulness but the more you will have and the better it will be. It was possible to get 3 for free when you upgraded to level 18 on the latest XDefiant Playtest. But you can also buy them on the Ubisoft Connect Store in the “reward” section of the game thanks to your Units. If you have Ubisoft games, take advantage of this last week to save them. The Pre-Season will also have its own Battle Pass and boosters will be available through certain levels. Use them carefully but we still advise you to use them on the “bad” weapons to finish them as soon as possible and get rid of them.
Thanks to all these tips, you now have all the cards in hand to unlock your weapon camos as quickly as possible during the Pre-Season. As a reminder, you will have 24 weapons to climb in gold at the launch of XDefiant.
