During the past 48 hours Mark has had a spree of updates on twitter regarding XDefiant, of which came out after Tom Henderson had a supposed developer reach out to them about XDefiant “chasing CoD”.
We’ve collated all the latest updates into a single post here,
Why has XDefiant been delayed so long?
Due to rebuilding major infrastructure and full system overhauls.
Have any changes been made to add SBMM / EOMM in XDefiant?
I can confirm that no push has been made to put SBMM into the game. Our Unranked playlists will still have no SBMM and you will get the variety of gameplay that you see when there isn’t SBMM.
When will private matches launch in XDefiant? Will XDefiant be using a 3rd party T/O platform? (i.e ESEA, ESL, FACEIT)
Private matches are coming after launch. We’ve talked to 3rd party T/O platforms, we’ll see what happens.
Will there be South African XDefiant servers?
Yes, in Johannesburg
Did any factions get changes before launch?
There have been some changes, Personally, I think Dedsec is the faction that people are going to want to nerf the most when we go live. But we’ll see.
Is Season 0 / “Preseason” of XDefiant still planned to be 6 weeks long?
Right now that plan remains. Could we make an audible at that time? Maybe.
Will there be nukes in XDefiant?
This whole delay has put that on hold. But I have what I think will be a really fun idea that I hope we can pull off.
Will the Prestige system in XDefiant be enabled at launch?
No, still being worked on for post-launch.
Can you use Mouse & Keyboard (MnK) on console in XDefiant?
Soon after launch more than likely. I think it’s mostly working but not officially in the main build yet.
Will you have to pay for new weapons in XDefiant?
All future weapons (3 per season) are available from the free battle pass. If you miss a season’s weapons you will have a special quest to unlock them.

How does non SBMM matchmaking work?
